Chesterfield Canal Trust Festival
After the very successful Trail Boat Rally of 2009 the Trust decided
that they would hold an annual event. The venue at Worksop on
the Rugby Club Grounds was a large site with very good, dry ground
conditions. As before the site was well managed with plenty of
helpful stewards.
The unpredictable British weather meant that the Saturday attendance
was not as great as it could have been, but there were plenty of
people around and Sunday was a very much better day. The number of
exhibitors was very encouraging for a local event. There were more
than adequate food stalls (Ostrich burgers!), and the home made
cakes and jams could not be resisted.
Of course this was all to support the restoration and a short walk
along the canal brought you to the excellent locks and bridges.
On show, too, was Python, the historic work boat donated to the
Trust by BW.
Another very enjoyable event and we are looking forward to next
year.
